I wanted to write about an iPhone app I created last year. Control My Phone helps people in 4 countries save on their phone bills by providing an easy to read graphical interface to quickly identify areas of concerns like call caps or data usage.
In Australia, our carriers provide monthly plans that are tailored around a dollar value cap. This gives each carrier choices on how minutes are calculated and when a flag fall rate is charged.
Most carriers round all calls to the next 30 second bracket, meaning a call made for 10 seconds has actually cost you 30 seconds bringing your dollar value up.
Australia has had lots of media coverage on “bill shock” where customers are unaware of the charges they have incurred until the end of the month when it’s time to pay the bill
A few months ago, Toolbox Interactive released a media release and some helpful tips on how to monitor an control your phone bill.
